Eco Targa Florio 2012: around the Grand Circuito delle Madonie to Castelbuono

Day three of the Eco Targa Florio 2012 saw the cars climbing up the flank of Mount Etna to 1,000 meters above sea level. From this geographical high point the route continued through Nebrodi Park to the former Benedictine monastery of Sant’Anastasia. Following a short lunch break, the drivers proceeded via the medieval town of Cefalù before returning to the starting point of the Targa Florio in Cerda. Then came the long trip round the Grande Circuito delle Madonie. Towards 5.30 p.m. the drivers reached the end of the stage at Castelbuono, set picturesquely at the foot of the Madonie Mountains.
